Sometimes this what you need to do for this job
Who-David Myles
Where-The Rivoli
When-Saturday night 1 am
What-a very drunk man really wants to sing for David. Very loudly. He paid money to see him play. David feels obligated to listen. Musician’s duty for sure, and we’ve all been there. Probably on both sides.
it’s just not that pretty.
Sometime when you sit down and try to empty your head and just make what you hear strange things come out. Sometimes dark things even on sunny days. Here’s one that I suppose is fairly dark, but then again my website isn’t behappyallthetimeilvoerainbows.com, now is it?

Things are busy, playing with one of favorite Maritime brethren David Myles on Saturday night at the Rivoli with the Outlanders as his band. It should be fun. 2 of my favorite worlds colliding. Come down and say hello if you’re around and need a good night out before a long weekend feast.

hey folks, missed the past couple days, sorry about that. Just spending a bit of time being quiet. It’s good for you sometimes. No noise making, no music writing, not even listening. Tomorrow however, noises begin again. See you then.

still trying to make my voice do things it doesn’t want to do, namely sing. Here’s something I was working on this morning to try and practice a few different things…

Here’s part something I’m working on for a great song writer named Sarah Kurtis. I think it’s sounding pretty, which is ok, you know? Pretty isn’t very cool these days, but that’s what we’re going for, so whatever.

I dropped off a finished grant application today, and besides the fact that grants are wonderful life giving, dream fulfilling golden drops of mana from the heavens, they’re totally useful even if you don’t get the money. What filling out a grant application does is make you think about your art in a way that a lot of us tend to avoid; in a logical straight forward fashion. No one is asking you to defend your art or your choices, they’re simply asking you to explain it to them. What do you do? Why do you do it? How do you go about doing it? You learn a ton by filling one of these things out, and I’ve found that by doing them every few months, it really helps me check myself and sets me back on course towards goals I’d like to accomplish.
This recent one reminded me that I haven’t really been experimenting as much lately. Lots of writing and playing with people, but not enough good old fashioned drum lab type stuff. Here’s some results from today so far.
