onepiece – desk
A while back I did a whole bunch of little songs called onepiecepieces where I would take one item, talk sweet and low to it for a few minutes, and then have it give up all it’s little secret sounds. Last night my desk and I had a few drinks, got to talking and she let me know just how upset she was that after all this time and this music made on top of her, she gets nothing. No shout out in the liner notes, no video to make a little cameo in, nothing. So here it is, a onepiece for my lovely little desk that I found on the sidewalk 4 years ago. Thanks for everything.

No commentsRIP Mitch Mitchell
Drummer for the the Pretty Things and Georgie Fame’s Blue Flames, but most notably the Jimi Hendrix experience, Mitch Mitchell passed away today due to reportedly natural causes. he was either 61 or 62, there seems to be a bit of debate about that. Regardless of age, he was one hell of a great drummer, fusing a heavy jazz influence with psychadelic rock better then anyone else in the 60′s in my humble opinion. Here’s a great clip of a Mitch playing with a super group consisting of Keith Richards, John Lennon, Eric Clapton, and a bass player that no one seems to name anywhere in a band called the Dirty Mac. Thanks for everything Mitch.
this sound….
….is driving me completely crazy. It’s a weird noise that a pipe in my place makes, seemingly only when I’m recording very quiet things that I need to turn the mics up loud for, and then all I get is –

Also, quick update, the cd I recorded with my lovely friends the Outlanders is now available anywhere where there’s a mail box, you can order it right here. . If you’re in or around the Toronto area, have nothing but time on your hands, or plans you want to cancel, let me help you. I’ll be playing with the Outlanders Friday November 14th at the Hart House Theater at the U of T campus. Starts at 9 and it’s completely free. As in no cover.

trying to utilize this big room I’m in. Here’s a whole bunch of faraway sounds together that actually came out kind of pretty. In my opinion. Which makes sense where it’s on my website. I don’t feel very witty these days. Sorry. Check out Nunc Scio for some real humour, and you may end up learning something too.

No commentsshe’s a better singer then me.
j bo doing some vocals with a super annoying pipe buzzing away in the background. But we still love the loft…….

it’s my first time
I had the luxury of having a big empty well lit room and some time this morning, so I decided to try something new. I’ve been messing about with singing lately, and it’s fun and scary and rewarding and frustrating at the same time. What I hadn’t done is actually written a tune where I sang words that I wrote as well. So here it is, my first little song*. It’s about one of 2 things -the feeling of searching for that person who can complete you and make things happy and good no matter what ………or it’s about putting my god damned glasses down and not remembering where. I’ll let you decide.

There’s lots of good people around me doing lots of good things artistically and other wise. Here’s 2 of them -
Josh Cockerill is a great up and coming singer song writer. Actually, I hate that term. Josh is a really good singer song writer who doesn’t have an album or distribution yet. He writes really great songs that make him sound much older and taller then he is. And he’s a really nice guy with a large belt buckle. Here’s a tune.

And on the admin side of things, here’s my good friend Liz Parker. She’s a a beautiful, charismatic, quick witted woman who just launched a her new business website, www.LIZPR.com . It’s a really cool business model that incorporates a pr agent, stylist, interview advisor, and good hang all into one. Check it out.
