Both of these things are going on in this picture. Also, here’s my new best friend who’s keeping my roommates from being too sad while I’m away. His name is Ben and we love each other a lot.

it’s all background

I’m a bad blogger and it’s going to get worse, sorry. Getting ready to do this trip, I’m going to take 4 days off and do some solo travel to Scotland to try and get some crazy accents, stories, accented stories, songs, and sheep onto the now functioning H4. I’ll do as much updating as I can from wherever I can.
For now though, we’re doing a show with Kate Rogers at the Supermarket on Monday night. It’s the first time we’ve played a Toronto show in a bit, come on down.
Annnnnd some music finally, had some time to finish off a background piece for a friend, here it is……

good friends who are good

I spent some time with my good friend and master wizard guitar player/song writer/producer Dean yesterday. He gave me a copy of his new record which should be out sometime soon with someone, and it’s colorful and surprising and all around beautiful. Go here and get Dream at Harmony Motel, it’s one of my top 15 records for sure, no lie.

The other good friend I spoke to recently is a gentleman named Ian Parliament. I lived with Ian and played in a very entertaining band called the Great Canadian Nobodies for a couple years. He lives in Whitby now, bought a house and wanted to set up a home music school with his wife, and I’ll be god damned if he didn’t do it and well at that. I love it when good people work hard and good things happen because of their goodness and work. Congrats buddy.

Lots of things happening here too. I started recording a bunhc of new stuff and I’m feeling ok about it surprisingly. I’m taking off again next week, headed to NB opening a show for Joel Plaskett ( who just got featured on Perez Hilton’s website, shit..), then headed back to England. We’re touring with the David Myles Team opening for Jools Holland which should be actually quite crazy. One of the shows is apparently on the grounds of a castle and 6000 tickets have sold. I’m excited, but also a little scared I think. We’ll see. I’m also really really hot which is a nice feeling finally.

why no sounds?

Because I’m chump/monkey and have dropped my H4 too many times, and I believe it’s given up on me. I took pictures though!

First weekend of summer and it started off wonderfully. NXNE was a good time Friday ngiht, hug with some family and friends and after giving up on the 2 hour plus Dakota line, we ended up getting a call from Josh Cockerill saying we needed to fill in for the 2am band and play a set. I had been thoroughly enjoying a night off and perhaps drinking a few too many, but it still seemed to go ok.

Saturday was a good day as well, played a really fun festival with Mr. Myles. The Sadies played right after us and completely kicked my ass in the best possible way. Those guys are a serious band.

Even i have to admit

….this is the cutest thing I’ve seen since a 3 legged cat with no tail tried to get in my car while I was loading gear (true story).

Also, my roomate finished this jelly fish style chandalier and it looks crazy in our place. Crazy I good I think.

Lots of things going on, some NXNE shows with David Myles then away for the weekend for a festival. This time of year in Toronto gets so crazy and I have mixed feelings about it. Soooo much happening at once in terms of things to see/do/eat etc, for a maritime boy it gets a bit hectic. I have tonight free though, so if anything super special is happening that you feel like I need to know, then spill it because I need to know and I’ll be there?

wed.

Hey team. We finished the beds for Josh’s stuff on Monday and I think it ended up being as special as we were wanting it to be. We ended by doing some choir style vocals using this

and I think it’s gonna sound real pretty.
I haven’t been posting any music here lately, still been writing lots though. The whole way I was writing before had a lot to do with sounds and loops and experimenting, but limited time has sort of taken away that option. Now I’m trying to do things like a real little song writer, with a guitar and some strife and a glass of wine or something.Don’t worry, no singing or emo emotional lyrics. It’ s good for me though, hopefully I can bring the two together soon.
My old friend David Myles is in town for some shows, let me know if there’s anything super fun happening tonight that we should do……..

Day 2

More x’s and that’s good. Also pictured, Chris Stringer deep in thought regarding the best possible way to make magic sound like magic. Or he took part in game 7 festivities and is paying the price. Or both.
