I love January (I never thought I’d say it)

Finally getting some stuff done on a new album which feels good. A few tracks I started in December but didn’t spend too much time on, so the goal is to finish those off as much as possible this week, and start off all fresh next week. I feel like I’ve learned a ton in the past year and it’s nice to put some of those little bits of knowledge and ideas into something tangible. I read a twitter post from Flying Lotus saying he’s done another record already, which makes me scared/excited/depressed all at once. He’s unstoppable. Cosmogramma was by far one of the most interesting albums to come out in the past 5 years, followed up a couple months later by a great 7 song ep called Patter/Grid World.  He’s an artist who really doesn’t seem to care about boundaries, deadlines, marketing plans, etc, and it’s really interesting to see that the music is undeniably good enough that he’s able to succeed. Any old way, here’s the start of something unrelated. I’ve had the mid-afternoon coffee and I’m a little wired.

Also, working on a fun long distance project with some talented humans. I’ll give you more info when I can but here’s some percussion stuff I was doing this morning for them. It actually sounds nice and chaotic when the tracks are all together like this. We’ll see what happens.

And I hung out with my little friend Dunjia. She’s got some weird stomach stuff happening so it’s good for both of us to get out for a walk a couple times a day. She’s by far the coolest, most human dog I’ve met. I don’t walk her, we go for a walk together.
