Olympic Symphonium remix

(on facebook? go towww.joshuavt.com for the full post)

I really, really love working on remixes for people, and especially when the songs are as good as the one I’m doing now. It’s for Fredericton’s handsomest band Olympic Symphonium for a tune from their latest record “The City Won’t Have Time To Fight”. Beautiful tunes and amazing melodies throughout the whole thing, highly recommended for fall listening and leaf kicking. Here’s the original, and below that a rough mix of part of what I’m working on.

that was fun

Last week I released my first cd, and it ended up being a whole lot of work and a whole lot of fun. A huge thanks to Valery Gore who delivered what turned out to be a really emotional performance while trying out a whole new batch of tunes and a different set up. Also thank you to the Tranzac where a lot of people there had never been. I’m glad they all came and saw the venue, and myself and my band of course.

The interesting thing about this album for me is that I only now feel like it’s done, even though I’ve had the physical copies for over a month. Part of the goal of this project was to put together a proper show with a band of people I love and respect, and push myself and hopefully them to do something musically that we don’t always get to do in our sideman worlds. I feel like I definitely got pushed, and hopefully they did too. I also got extremely stressed at times, nervous, excited, depressed, and even complacent once. I realize now that having a cd release takes a huge amount of organizational know how (which isn’t a strength of mine), finance (definitely lacking a bit there), talent (we had that one thanks to an insane band with Christine Bougie, Dean Drouillard, Daffyd Hughs, Adam Warner, and Bret Higgins), and a ton of good friends who will show love and support and spread the word. Which leads me to the point of this post. Thank you so much to all who came out, or who sent kind words and couldn’t make it due to various circumstances. I really very much appreciate it.

Now. What next? I feel like I forgot how to make music over the past 2 months, but I’m thinking it’ll come back fast. I’m moving tomorrow into my little studio laboratory and it couldn’t come at a more perfect time. I’ll be here on the blog more regularly as well, and thinking of implementing a little more structure to keep it interesting for everyone. Suggestions are always welcome!!

(on facebook? go to www.joshuavt.com for the full post)

I’m excited. The band is excited. Lots of excitement. This is exciting. Valery Gore is going to be amazing, and we’re going to do our best to follow it up with something equally amazing. See you there? September 15th 830 sharp? Cover is $10, or $20 with a cd.
